Global Gridded GDP Data Consistent with Shared Socioeconomic Pathways, 2005-2100

A set of spatially explicit global gridded gross domestic product (GDP) data for historical and future periods. The dataset includes 41 files covering the year 2005 and projections from 2030 to 2100 at ten-year intervals for five Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs). It was developed by Tingting Wang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences using a LitPop downscaling method that combines nighttime light and population data.

Collection Method

National and provincial GDP data were downscaled using LitPop maps derived from DMSP-OLS nighttime light images and the LandScan population database; future projections used NPP-VIIRS and population projections.
