Description
Netherlands data showing locations of permanent groundwater abstraction installations where extraction exceeded 12,000 cubic meters in 2015. The dataset excludes extractions for remediation, construction drainage, and open geothermal energy, and is provided by the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. It is available as map services and images under a public domain license.
Use Cases
Mapping high-volume groundwater usage based on the reported location data.
Analyzing the spatial distribution of drinking water extraction within protected catchment areas.
Modeling aquifer usage patterns based on the described abstraction in different aquifer packages.
Strengths
Defines a clear volumetric threshold for inclusion (greater than 12,000 m3).
Specifies exclusions for remediation, drainage, and geothermal energy, clarifying scope.
Provides multiple access formats including WMS and WFS for geospatial analysis.
Limitations
