Description
Coastal mangrove forests in Soc Trang, Ca Mau, and Kien Giang provinces of the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, are assessed for habitat quality and degradation in 2017. The dataset includes inputs and outputs for the InVEST habitat quality model, such as land use/cover maps, threat factor distributions, and resulting quality index maps. It is provided by the Environmental Information Data Centre and is embargoed until January 4, 2027.
Use Cases
Modeling habitat degradation based on threat factor distributions mentioned in the description
Comparing spatial patterns of habitat quality and ecosystem services as described
Identifying priority conservation areas using the habitat quality and degradation index maps
Analyzing land use and land cover changes in the Mekong Delta for 2017
Strengths
Focuses on a specific geographic region (Soc Trang, Ca Mau, Kien Giang provinces) and year (2017)
Includes both model inputs (land use maps, threat data) and outputs (quality and degradation index maps)
Based on the InVEST Habitat Quality model, an open-source tool from Stanford University
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
Data is embargoed and not accessible until January 4, 2027
