526 described species of Neotropical leaf litter frogs (Pristimantis) form the world's most species-rich vertebrate genus. This dataset, created by Emily H. Waddell, contains a phylogeny based on 260 individuals and a 3718 base pair alignment, used to identify 14 higher evolutionary units and analyze diversification rates. The study estimates the genus origin at 28.97 million years ago and links its radiation to Miocene geological events.
