Description
NASA assembled a catalog of 316 K-giant star targets to test the association between infrared excesses and lithium abundances. Two-thirds of the targets are thought to be lithium-rich. The multiwavelength catalog spans optical through 100 um data, incorporating data from SDSS, 2MASS, WISE, IRAS, and other surveys.
Use Cases
Correlating infrared excesses with lithium abundances based on the multiwavelength catalog.
Studying stellar evolution in K giants based on the assembled sample of lithium-rich stars.
Analyzing multiwavelength photometric data from optical to far-infrared surveys.
Investigating selection biases in stellar population studies based on the description of source assemblies.
Strengths
Includes 316 specifically targeted K-giant stars.
Assembles a multiwavelength catalog from 9 major astronomical surveys.
Focuses on a sample where two-thirds of targets are thought to be lithium-rich.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect source selection bias inherent to the original studies (dlR97, C12, literature).
Provenance
Source

Collection Method
Targets assembled from the dlR97 and C12 studies and literature identifying Li-rich K giants; multiwavelength catalog compiled from SDSS, NOMAD, 2MASS, DENIS, WISE, IRAS, AKARI, MSX, and Spitzer data.
