Description
Hydrodynamic data were collected at three locations around Kumirmari island in the Indian Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna Delta during July-August 2022. The dataset includes measurements of tidal inundation, current velocity, wave orbital velocity, wave heights, wave energy, water depth, and sediment properties. The Environmental Information Data Centre hosts this dataset, which was gathered to inform coastal flood and erosion protection planning.
Use Cases
Modeling tidal inundation patterns based on water depth and current velocity measurements.
Assessing wave energy impact on embankment stability based on wave height and orbital velocity data.
Analyzing sediment transport dynamics based on sediment property data collected at sensor locations.
Calibrating coastal flood models based on the hydrodynamic forcing data from the embankment edges.
Strengths
Data were collected at three distinct locations, providing spatial coverage around Kumirmari island.
Multiple hydrodynamic parameters were measured, including tidal inundation, current velocity, wave orbital velocity, wave heights, and wave energy.
Sediment properties were gathered alongside hydrodynamic measurements, enabling integrated analysis.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale modeling.
Data may reflect geographic and temporal bias inherent to the specific island and two-month survey period.
