Description
Gene expression data from the GEO database (GSE93798) was analyzed to identify pyroptosis-related hub genes and immune cell infiltration in IgA nephropathy (IgAN). The analysis identified 19 pyroptosis-related differentially expressed genes and six hub genes (BHLHE40, JUN, CEBPB, ACE2, IL1B, and CD14) with high diagnostic accuracy. The dataset was created by Jiayi Li and last updated on May 15, 2026.
Use Cases
Identifying diagnostic biomarkers for IgA nephropathy based on the six hub genes (BHLHE40, JUN, CEBPB, ACE2, IL1B, CD14) with reported AUC > 0.9.
Analyzing immune cell infiltration profiles in kidney disease based on the reported higher levels of CD8+ T cells, macrophages, and neutrophils in IgAN.
Investigating pyroptosis-related signaling pathways in autoimmune kidney disorders based on the Gene Ontology and KEGG analyses mentioned.
Validating gene expression signatures for IgAN using the independent validation dataset (GSE99339) referenced in the description.
Strengths
Analysis is validated using an independent dataset (GSE99339), confirming the findings.
Six hub genes (BHLHE40, JUN, CEBPB, ACE2, IL1B, CD14) are reported to have high diagnostic accuracy (AUC > 0.9).
The study includes experimental validation in both human kidney tissues and serum samples.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is small (263.1 KB), indicating limited scope.
Provenance
Source
Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, specifically dataset GSE93798.
Collection Method
Bioinformatics analysis using differential expression analysis (limma R package), LASSO regression, and SVM algorithms.
