Between March 31 and April 19, 2024, imagery and acoustics were collected from the RV Investigator voyage IN2024_V02 southwest of Tasmania. The dataset includes video, stereo stills, and navigational data captured by a Deep Towed Camera system at Patience seamount. It was collected by the Marine National Facility as part of a CSIRO project monitoring key natural values in marine parks.
Use Cases
- Analyze species abundance and behavior based on video and stereo still imagery.
- Map the spatial distribution of basketwork eels based on navigational data.
- Monitor changes in seamount ecosystems over time based on the time-series voyage data.
- Validate acoustic monitoring methods by correlating with optical imagery.
Strengths
- Data collected during a dedicated 20-day voyage with precise temporal coverage.
- Includes multiple data modalities: video, stereo stills, and navigational data.
- Targeted collection at a specific geographic feature, Patience seamount.
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
- Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to a single seamount location.
