109 first and fourth grade primary school children in Taichung, Taiwan, were recruited for a gut microbiome and immune response study. The research, conducted by Chin-An Yang of China Medical University, examined changes in microbial diversity and cytokine levels before and after pinworm infection and mebendazole treatment. Gut microbiota diversity increased after Enterobius infection and peaked after administration of mebendazole.
