Up to 1 gigatonne of CO2 can be stored in the Early Cretaceous Gage Sandstone reservoir of the Vlaming Sub-basin. Geoscience Australia produced this assessment by interpreting and integrating seismic, well, and marine datasets to evaluate reservoir properties and seal integrity risks. The study, part of the National CO2 Infrastructure Plan, was last updated in April 2026.
