A paper from the University of Cambridge investigates coupling between electromagnetic surface waves on parallel wires. Finite-element method (FEM)-based and analytic models are developed for single- and double-wire Sommerfeld and Goubau lines, validated via measurements and computational comparisons. The results exhibit new effects for surface wave propagation over multiple conductors, including findings on short-range behavior and optimum wire separation.
