Description
Spatial predictors and model outputs for investigating the distribution of Scotch broom (Cytisus scoparius) within Garry Oak ecosystems in British Columbia, Canada. The dataset was derived from Sentinel-2 multispectral imagery and includes raw spectral bands, derived vegetation indices, and Random Forest classification outputs. It was authored by Willa Pepin and last updated on May 2, 2026.
Use Cases
Mapping invasive species presence and absence based on Random Forest classification outputs.
Analyzing seasonal vegetation changes based on temporal metrics for NDVI, ciRED, and TREI indices.
Conducting accuracy assessments for land cover classification using provided confusion matrices and accuracy metrics.
Studying spectral signatures of specific plant communities using surface reflectance bands B01–B12 and Tasseled Cap Transformations.
Strengths
Includes multiple predictor types: 12 surface reflectance bands, Tasseled Cap Transformations, and temporal change metrics for three vegetation indices.
Model outputs are provided as both continuous probability surfaces and binary classification maps generated via thresholding approaches.
Accuracy assessment was conducted using validation data, with performance evaluated through confusion matrices and class-specific accuracies.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file formats are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data may reflect geographic bias inherent to the specific study region in British Columbia.
