Description
Nearly 30,000 scientific observations were made by the European Space Agency's Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) between November 1995 and May 1998. The catalog contains all standard observations exempt from technical problems, with flags for calibration data, and provides links to quick-look images and documentation. NASA HEASARC last updated this online catalog in September 2004 based on data from the CDS data center.
Use Cases
Analyzing observation patterns and targets based on the validated observation log
Linking to quick-look images for preliminary data inspection as mentioned in the description
Identifying calibration observations using the special flags indicated in the catalog
Studying the operational history and scientific output of the ISO mission
Strengths
Contains nearly 30,000 validated scientific observations from a dedicated space observatory
Mission operated for almost a year longer than its expected lifetime
Provides direct links to quick-look images and observation-specific documentation
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
