Two eye-tracking experiments replaced manual responses with eye-movement responses in a lexical decision task. The study, authored by Peter C. Gordon from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, evaluated the contribution of task goals and response mode to semantic priming. Gaze durations showed robust semantic priming, with the effect concentrated in the slow tail of the response time distribution.
