Description
Italy's labour relations data for the years 1900 and 2000, created by Andrea Caracausi and updated by Daan Jansen and Joris Kok of the International Institute of Social History (IISH). This version, updated in October 2020, includes only records containing labour relations, with population data removed. The data has undergone cleaning, separation of male and female individuals, and deduplication.
Use Cases
Analyzing the structure of labour relations in Italy based on the cleaned historical records.
Comparing male and female labour participation based on the separated gender data.
Studying long-term historical trends in work based on the 1900 and 2000 snapshots.
Using the aggregated population figures for demographic context in labour studies.
Strengths
Data cleaning and removal of duplicate records was performed.
Male and female individuals are separated in the records.
Aggregated figures are designed to equal the total population.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset covers only two specific years (1900, 2000), limiting continuous trend analysis.
