Description
GLIDEnumbers are GLobal unique IDEntifiers for Disasters, enabling interoperability across multiple disaster information sources. The Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC) proposed this common ID to address confusion in identifying events across borders and in countries with many disasters. Institutions using GLIDEnumbers include UN-OCHA, UNDRR, UNDP, WMO, IFRC, FAO, the European Commission, and CRED.
Use Cases
Link disaster records across different institutional reports based on the GLIDE number.
Analyze disaster frequency and impact in Jamaica based on registered event records.
Map disaster events geographically based on the available GEOJSON format.
Standardize disaster event tracking for cross-border analysis based on the unique identifier system.
