Description
Statistics Canada provides three-month moving averages of labour force characteristics for immigrants. The data includes counts for employment, unemployment, and those not in the labour force, along with rates for unemployment, participation, and employment. Metrics are segmented by educational attainment, immigrant status, gender, and age group.
Use Cases
Analyze unemployment_rate trends across educational attainment levels for different immigrant status groups.
Model participation_rate and employment_rate using gender and age group as predictor variables.
Compare labour force counts for employed versus not in the labour force populations segmented by demographic characteristics.
Strengths
Data is sourced from Statistics Canada, a national statistical office.
Includes multiple labour force metrics (counts and rates) for detailed analysis.
Provides segmentation by four key dimensions: education, immigrant status, gender, and age.
Limitations
Data is unadjusted for seasonality, which may obscure underlying trends.
The sample data and specific row/column counts are unavailable for assessing scale.
The three-month moving average format reduces granularity of monthly fluctuations.
