Coastal Louisiana experienced an estimated 217-square-mile land loss after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. The dataset comprises three map-based analyses comparing land area from 2004 to 2005 and providing a historical perspective from 1956. It was created by the USGS and published in December 2005 to serve as a baseline for monitoring wetland recovery.
Data is presented as analyzed map posters; raw tabular or vector geospatial files may not be available.
