Description
Input and forcing files to reproduce simulations with the iceberg-extended Alfred Wegener Institute Earth System Model (AWI-ESM). The dataset includes model dimensions, coordinates, scaling factors, ice sheet model output, restart files, and runscripts. It was created by Lars Ackermann of the Alfred Wegener Institute to accompany a 2023 preprint publication.
Use Cases
Reproduce published iceberg-climate simulations based on the provided runscripts and config files.
Analyze iceberg trajectories and melt patterns based on the provided model coordinates and scaling factors.
Initialize new iceberg simulations using the provided ice sheet model output and basins.
Create visualizations of model results using the derived plotting scripts.
Strengths
Includes restart files from a longer pre-industrial spinup for model initialization.
Provides runscripts and config files intended to fully recreate the published simulations.
Associated with a peer-reviewed preprint publication, providing scientific context.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
Provenance

Collection Method
Model output and configuration files generated for climate simulations.
Geography
Global, with a focus on polar regions.
Requires installation of specific software dependencies (tripyview and pyfesom2) to use the provided scripts.
