Description
2000-2005 eddy covariance and micrometeorological measurements from a pasture site near Santarem, Para, Brazil. The dataset contains turbulent fluxes of momentum, heat, water vapor, and CO2, plus profiles of CO2, air temperature, humidity, wind, radiation, and soil properties across five annual CSV files. Collected by NASA's LBA-ECO project, it documents a land-use transition from pasture to upland rice cultivation in November 2001.
Use Cases
Analyzing seasonal and interannual variability of CO2, water vapor, and heat fluxes using the eddy covariance data.
Modeling energy balance and evapotranspiration with solar radiation, soil heat flux, air temperature, and humidity measurements.
Studying the impact of land-use change from pasture to rice cultivation on local microclimate and carbon dynamics.
Validating remote sensing products or ecosystem models with ground-based measurements of soil moisture and temperature profiles.
Investigating wind shear and atmospheric stability using wind speed profile data from the 20m tower.
Strengths
Provides a continuous 5-year record (2000-2005) of high-frequency eddy covariance fluxes, capturing a land-use change event.
Includes a companion document detailing the precise formulae used for flux calculations, enhancing reproducibility.
Measures a wide suite of co-located variables including radiation, soil properties, and atmospheric profiles for integrated analysis.
Its presence on multiple authoritative platforms (Data.gov, NASA Earthdata) signals importance and validation.
Limitations
Key technical details like row count, file size, and specific column names are unavailable across all sources.
Sources conflict on the last update date: Data.gov lists 2026-03-13, while NASA Earthdata lists 2006-01-01, suggesting potential metadata inconsistency.
