Amazon River Basin imagery comprises two L-band radar backscatter mosaics and two derived first-order texture mosaics. The dataset was created from 1,500 images collected by the JERS-1 satellite over 62-day periods during the 1995 dry season and 1996 wet season as part of the Global Rainforest Mapping Project. Data is provided as eight zip files containing four core images in both GeoTIFF and ENVI formats at a 1 km resolution.
License is specified as 'other-license-specified'; users must review the specific terms. Data is distributed in zip files containing paired format files (e.g., .tif/.tfw, .dat/.hdr). The 2026 update date is likely a metadata system artifact, as the core data is from the mid-1990s.
