Description
In 2022, a population of 240 indica rice genotypes from the PRAY panel was cultivated in CIRAD's Abiophen growth chambers under elevated CO2 (700 µmol mol-1). Measurements of leaf gas exchange and hyperspectral data were taken during the grain-filling phase using LI-6800 Portable Photosynthesis Systems. The dataset was created by Denis Cornet of CIRAD to study correlations between spectral data, leaf sugar concentration, and photosynthetic traits for predicting CO2 acclimation.
Use Cases
Modeling the relationship between hyperspectral reflectance and leaf photosynthetic traits mentioned in the description.
Analyzing genetic variation in gas exchange responses to elevated CO2 across the 240-genotype panel.
Predicting rice acclimation to high CO2 conditions based on leaf sugar concentration and spectral data correlations.
Calibrating non-destructive spectral measurements against direct gas exchange measurements for high-throughput phenotyping.
Strengths
Data collected from 240 individual rice genotypes, representing genetic diversity within the Indica species.
Measurements were standardized, taken during a specific physiological stage (grain-filling) and time of day (6-9 hours after dawn).
Used two calibrated LI-6800 Portable Photosynthesis Systems with fluorometers for consistent gas exchange data.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Data is from a single year (2022) and controlled environment, which may limit generalizability to field conditions.
