Geoscience Australia's Marine Geoscience and Petroleum Geology Group collected 531 km of Direct Hydrocarbon Detection (DHD) data across 25 seismic lines in October 1990. The survey, conducted in co-operation with Woodside Petroleum in permit WA-28-P, traversed known oil and gas accumulations like Wanaea, Cossack, and Angel. No significant hydrocarbon anomalies were detected, indicating well-sealed reservoirs, though minor total hydrocarbon increases were observed at some well locations.
