Description
Local roads in Colorado, segmented with from/to descriptions and attributes from the Colorado Department of Transportation. The dataset includes columns for geometry, route names, functional classification, surface type, width, lane quantity, average daily traffic (AADT), and the year of the traffic count. It was last updated on 2026-05-29 11:01:36 and is hosted on data.colorado.gov.
Use Cases
Model traffic volume (AADT) based on road attributes like FUNCCLASSI, THRULNQTY, and URBAN using regression on available columns.
Analyze pavement condition by correlating surface metrics (PSI, IRI) with traffic load (AADT) and surface type (SURF_TYPE).
Map road network connectivity and segment lengths (SEG_LENGTH) for routing analysis using geospatial data (the_geom).
Classify road jurisdiction and maintenance responsibility using ADMINCLASS, GOVLEVEL, and SPECIALSYS columns.
Strengths
Includes multiple traffic and infrastructure attributes such as AADT, SURF_TYPE, THRULNQTY, and PSI per segment.
Provides geospatial data (the_geom) for mapping and spatial analysis.
Contains detailed segment descriptors including FROM_DESCR, TO_DESCR, and ROUTENAME.
Limitations
Row count and total dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
