Description
LAEI 2022 provides emissions estimates for key pollutants like NOx, PM10, PM2.5, and CO2 for the base year 2022, with revised data for 2016, 2019, 2025, and 2030. The inventory covers Greater London and areas up to the M25 motorway, with emissions provided at a 1km grid square resolution and borough level. Produced by the Greater London Authority, the dataset includes supporting traffic data and is used to model ground-level pollutant concentrations.
Use Cases
Modeling ground-level air pollutant concentrations based on the described atmospheric dispersion model inputs.
Analyzing emissions trends over time based on data for years 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025, and 2030.
Assessing road transport emissions contributions based on detailed data by vehicle type and link/grid level.
Supporting local air quality management duties at the borough level using the provided summary dashboards and concentration maps.
Strengths
Includes emissions data for five distinct years (2016, 2019, 2022, 2025, 2030), enabling temporal analysis.
Covers a defined geographic area (Greater London and surrounding M25 region) with data at 1km grid and borough-level resolution.
Provides detailed road transport emissions split by exhaust, brake wear, and tyre wear for PM.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Some datasets, like concentration maps, were noted as being finalized at the time of the description.
Provenance
Source
Greater London Authority
Collection Method
Emissions estimates derived using emission factors, activity data, and atmospheric dispersion modeling.
Time Range
2016, 2019, 2022, with forecasts for 2025 and 2030.
Freshness
Last updated 2026-06-24 21:01:30.067933; freshness should be verified.
Geography
Greater London (32 London boroughs and the City of London) and areas outside up to the M25 motorway.
Due to the size of the database, most datasets are provided in several parts as compressed ZIP files.
