Description
LP MOON NEUTRON SPECTROMETER 3 RDR V1.0 contains four global maps of neutron flux derived from Lunar Prospector spacecraft data. The maps represent thermal, epithermal, moderated, and fast neutrons, each as a 720x360 pixel array equally spaced in latitude and longitude. NASA produced this dataset, which was last updated on March 13, 2026.
Use Cases
Model lunar elemental composition based on thermal neutron flux maps.
Analyze regolith properties based on epithermal neutron data.
Compare neutron moderation across lunar regions based on moderated neutron maps.
Study high-energy neutron interactions based on fast neutron maps.
Create global visualizations of neutron flux based on the 720x360 geospatial arrays.
Strengths
Four distinct neutron flux maps provide multiple data products.
Global coverage with 720x360 pixel arrays offers consistent spatial resolution.
Data originates from the authoritative Lunar Prospector mission and NASA.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
