Description
Data from 2015 and 2016 surveys in eight headwater streams in Ubatuba, Brazil. The dataset contains macroinvertebrate community observations used to assess the effects of Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (BTI) application on abundance, taxonomic richness, functional feeding groups, and food-web structure. It was compiled by author Tatiana Docile to support a manuscript under review in Insect Conservation and Diversity.
Use Cases
Conduct paired statistical analyses comparing treated and control stream reaches based on the described experimental design.
Model direct and indirect food-web responses to BTI application using the structural equation models mentioned.
Perform univariate tests of macroinvertebrate abundance and taxonomic richness as referenced in the description.
Analyze shifts in functional feeding groups (e.g., predators, collector-filterers) in response to biopesticide treatment.
Reproduce the multivariate analyses and results from the associated publication using the provided R scripts.
Strengths
Includes data from two consecutive years (2015 and 2016), allowing for temporal analysis.
Covers eight distinct tropical headwater streams, each with treated and control stretches, providing paired comparison points.
Accompanying R scripts are provided to ensure full reproducibility of the reported analyses.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for specific modeling tasks.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality and completeness require manual inspection after download.

Collection Method
Benthic macroinvertebrates were collected from riffle habitats, identified to the lowest feasible taxonomic level (typically morphospecies), and assigned to functional feeding groups.
