Description
Delivering tropical cyclone track data for the Madagascar region, sourced from the International Best Track Archive for Climate Stewardship (IBTrACS) project. It aggregates historical and recent storm observations from multiple meteorological agencies into an unified format, including storm identifiers, temporal markers, and physical measurements. The data is available in CSV and GEOJSON formats and was last updated in March 2026.
Use Cases
Mapping storm trajectories using LAT and LON coordinates
Analyzing historical trends in storm intensity using WMO_WIND and WMO_PRES values
Categorizing storm types over time using the NATURE and ISO_TIME fields
Strengths
Aggregates data from multiple global agencies to improve inter-agency comparisons
Includes both GEOJSON and CSV formats for geospatial and tabular analysis
Standardized fields for wind speed (WMO_WIND) and pressure (WMO_PRES)
Limitations
Geographic scope is limited to the Madagascar region
Data quality depends on the reporting consistency of the contributing meteorological agencies
