Description
Dekadal NDVI vegetation indicators for the Maldives are provided at sub-national administrative levels by the World Food Programme. The data, derived from NASA MODIS collection 6.1 satellite imagery, includes 10-day averages, long-term averages, and percentage anomalies updated as of March 2026.
Use Cases
Monitoring vegetation health trends using the vim and vim_lta columns
Identifying drought or abnormal growth patterns via the viq anomaly percentage
Spatial analysis of agricultural productivity across different Pcode-referenced administrative units
Strengths
Uses NASA MODIS collection 6.1 high-resolution satellite data
Includes Pcode references for standardized administrative joins
Provides n_pixels to indicate the statistical weight of each aggregate
Limitations
Geographic scope is restricted to the Maldives
Aggregated data loses the spatial granularity of raw satellite pixels
Specific row count and historical start date are not provided
