Description
From 2020 to 2024, this dataset describes and compares export destination diversification and revealed specialization for frozen squid and cuttlefish exports from China, Indonesia, India, Spain, Morocco, and Argentina. It was created by Jose Carlos Montes Ninaquispe using secondary statistics from the UN Comtrade database. The analysis is quantitative and retrospective, applying the Herfindahl–Hirschman Index and Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage.
Use Cases
Analyzing trends in export market concentration based on the Herfindahl–Hirschman Index values provided in the description.
Comparing revealed comparative advantage (RSCA) across countries to assess specialization in frozen cephalopod trade.
Profiling export sustainability and economic resilience for the six specified exporting nations.
Studying the evolution of trade portfolios in the global seafood cold-chain logistics sector.
Strengths
Provides a multi-year longitudinal analysis covering 2020 to 2024.
Includes specific, calculated metrics like HHI and RSCA for cross-country comparison, with example values cited (e.g., China's HHI declining from 1,134 to 704).
Data is sourced from the authoritative UN Comtrade database, and cleaning routines are documented for replicability.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
The dataset is small (200.4 KB), indicating a limited scope focused on aggregated indices for six countries.
