Marine Futures: Benthic Habitat Maps of Southwest Australia

Approximately 1,500 square kilometers of Western Australian seafloor were mapped using hydroacoustic surveys and video ground-truthing. The resulting fine-scale habitat maps detail substrate types and biotic formations across nine study areas in the ecologically diverse Capes region. This temperate marine environment features high finfish and seagrass diversity, influenced by the mixing of the Leeuwin and Capes currents.
