Description
Mars Express MARSIS radar data processed for subsurface analysis. The dataset contains uncompressed and corrected sounding data from the MARSIS experiment, with adjustments for Automated Gain Control, altitude alignment, and ionospheric distortion. NASA produced this version, last updated in March 2026.
Use Cases
Modeling subsurface stratigraphy based on processed radar sounding data.
Detecting potential subsurface water ice deposits based on radar signal returns.
Analyzing ionospheric effects on radar signals for instrument calibration.
Mapping geological interfaces beneath the Martian surface using range-processed data.
Strengths
Data is processed with corrections for Automated Gain Control and ionospheric distortion.
Data is aligned to a reference altitude, which may improve spatial consistency.
Source data originates from the authoritative MARS EXPRESS MARS MARSIS EXPERIMENT DATA RECORD V2.0 Data Set.
Last updated on 2026-03-13, indicating recent metadata maintenance.
