Description
MARS EXPRESS MARSIS REDUCED DATA SUBSURFACE EXT 2 V1.0 contains processed subsurface sounding data from the Mars Express spacecraft's MARSIS instrument. The data have been uncompressed, corrected for Automated Gain Control, aligned to a reference altitude, and range-processed to correct for ionospheric distortion of the transmitted signal. The dataset is provided by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and was last updated on March 13, 2026.
Use Cases
Map subsurface geological structures based on processed radar sounding data.
Analyze signal propagation and attenuation in the Martian subsurface based on Automated Gain Control corrections.
Study ionospheric effects on radar signals based on the described range processing corrections.
Validate and refine geophysical models of Mars using calibrated subsurface measurements.
Strengths
Data is processed and corrected for Automated Gain Control and ionospheric distortion, which suggests a calibrated scientific product.
Dataset originates from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, a recognized authority in space exploration.
Last updated on 2026-03-13, indicating recent maintenance.
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and file size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
