Description
MARS EXPRESS MARSIS REDUCED DATA SUBSURFACE EXT 6 V1.0 contains subsurface sounding data from the Mars Express orbiter. The data have been uncompressed, corrected for Automated Gain Control, aligned to a reference altitude, and, except for SS2 mode acquisitions, range processed after correcting for ionospheric distortion of the transmitted signal. The dataset is provided by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and was last updated in April 2026.
Use Cases
Analyze Martian subsurface structure based on processed radar sounding data.
Detect subsurface ice or liquid water layers based on radar signal returns.
Study ionospheric effects on radar signals for data collected in SS2 mode.
Map subsurface geological boundaries using range-processed radar profiles.
Strengths
Data has been processed to correct for Automated Gain Control and aligned to a reference altitude.
Data from most acquisition modes has been range processed to correct for ionospheric signal distortion.
Dataset originates from the authoritative source, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
