Seasonal integrated surface albedo values are derived from global vegetation and cultivation intensity maps for snow-free conditions. The data comprises four files representing winter, spring, summer, and autumn, each with a spatial resolution of one degree latitude/longitude. It was compiled by Matthews at the Goddard Institute for Space Studies and published in 1983.
Seasonal files correspond to January, April, July, and October in the Northern Hemisphere, but shift to July, October, January, and April in the Southern Hemisphere. The proper reference is 'Matthews, E., 1983. Global vegetation and land use: new high resolution data bases for climate studies, Journal of Climate and Applied Meteorology, volume 22, pp. 474-487.'
