Description
MAG/ER data from the Mars Global Surveyor's assessment orbits includes GIF plots of derived electron fluxes and magnetic field observations. The plots visualize electron fluxes at 10, 50, 130, 300, and 1000 eV, magnetic field amplitude, and spacecraft altitude. This data was produced by NASA, with the underlying numerical data slated for release after further validation.
Use Cases
Study Mars's magnetic field topology based on magnetic field amplitude and RMS plots.
Analyze electron populations in the Martian environment based on multi-energy electron flux plots.
Correlate spacecraft altitude with magnetic and electron observations based on the included altitude data.
Strengths
Data originates from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor mission, a primary source for Mars science.
Plots visualize derived data across five specific electron energy levels (10, 50, 130, 300, and 1000 eV).
Limitations
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The provided data consists of derived plots, with the underlying numerical data not yet released.
