Description
Monitoring results from the Regional Autonomous Corporation for the Defense of the Bucaramanga Plateau (CDMB) assess the physical, chemical, and microbiological state of surface water sources. The dataset includes parameters like temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, total solids, BOD5, COD, nutrients, heavy metals, and coliforms. Data was collected during the September–October 2024 monitoring campaign as part of the institutional environmental surveillance and control strategy for 2024.
Use Cases
Analyze temporal trends in heavy metal contamination (Lead, Mercury, Chromium) using Fecha y Hora de monitoreo SEP Y OCT and location codes.
Model relationships between physical parameters like Turbiedad (NTU), Sólidos totales (mg/L), and biological indicators like Coliformes totales NMP/100 ml.
Assess water body health by calculating indices from core parameters like Oxigeno Disuelto (mg/L), DBO5 (mg/L), and DQO (mg/L).
Correlate nutrient levels (Nitratos, Fosforo total) with flow conditions using (Qi) Caudal (L/s) from the 30+ available columns.
Strengths
Includes a wide range of over 30 measured parameters covering physical, chemical, and microbiological water quality.
Explicitly documents data validity (Vigencia) and uses 'null' annotations to preserve integrity for undetected parameters.
Data is associated with a specific institutional monitoring strategy and time period (September–October 2024).
Limitations
Row count and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale modeling.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality, completeness, and sampling methodology require manual inspection after download.
