More than 300 fully-traced neurons from the mouse brain are available for download and 3D browsing, representing a tenfold increase over previous efforts. The data was created by Janelia scientists using iterative two-photon microscopy on 200-micron brain slices, with each brain scan generating about 50 terabytes of raw data. The selectively-labeled neurons, some with fibers up to 45 centimeters long, can be explored via the NeuronBrowser application.
The complete raw dataset (approximately 50 TB per brain) requires contacting Janelia for hardware transfer; only processed reconstructions (SWC, JSON) are directly downloadable.
