Description
United Nations Human Settlements Programme data tracks urban access to public spaces and green areas in Mozambique over three decades. Metrics include the average share of urban land allocated to streets and open spaces, and the population within 400 meters of a public space. The dataset also provides the percentage of cities in green areas and green area per capita for 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2020.
Use Cases
Analyze trends in urban green space provision based on the 'green area per capita' and 'share of cities in green areas' metrics.
Assess spatial equity in access to public open spaces based on the 'share of urban population with convenient access' indicator.
Model the relationship between urban form and public space allocation using the 'average share of urban areas allocated to streets and open public spaces'.
Benchmark Mozambican cities against regional or global urban sustainability targets using the provided time-series data.
Strengths
Provides a 30-year time series with data points for 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2020.
Includes multiple standardized metrics for urban green and open space, allowing for cross-indicator analysis.
Sourced from the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, an authoritative international body.
Limitations
