Description
The INDICANTS project, funded by the EU Horizon 2020 programme, collected field data for validating point-of-care LAMP assays for four vascular banana diseases. Data includes banana cultivars, locations, tissue samples, and results from LAMP and PCR/qPCR tests conducted in Jamaica, Ecuador, Mozambique, Indonesia, Uganda, Vietnam, and Comoros between 2022 and 2024. The dataset was contributed by author Isabelle Robene from the CIRAD Harvested Collection.
Use Cases
Validate LAMP assay performance for Fusarium wilt based on field sample results from Mozambique and Indonesia.
Compare diagnostic accuracy between LAMP and PCR/qPCR methods for Moko disease using data from Jamaica and Ecuador.
Analyze the geographic distribution of banana blood disease (BDB) and Xanthomonas wilt (BXW) based on sample locations in Indonesia and Uganda.
Study the relationship between banana cultivar and disease presence based on the recorded cultivar information.
Strengths
Data covers four major banana diseases across seven countries, providing a multi-regional perspective.
Results from both field-deployed LAMP tests and laboratory reference PCR/qPCR tests are included for comparison.
The dataset was collected as part of a funded EU Horizon 2020 research project (grant agreement No. 890856).
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment for large-scale modeling.
The description does not specify the exact number of samples collected per country or disease.
Field samples collected in banana plantations, tested by LAMP in the field or non-laboratory environments after simplified extraction, with reference PCR/qPCR performed by local partners.
