Description
Soil-geochemistry data collected during a field campaign in the Antofagasta Region of Chile from 2 June to 9 July 2025. The dataset includes quality-assurance metrics from ICP-MS/CV-AAS analysis and independent AAS cross-validation for six trace metals (Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb). It was released by Elizabeth Lam-Esquenazi on figshare in May 2026.
Use Cases
Analyzing spatial distribution of environmentally relevant trace metals based on the six metals (Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb) mentioned.
Validating laboratory analytical methods based on the independent cross-validation performed at Universidad Católica del Norte.
Studying soil-rock geochemical relationships based on the collection of outcrop rock samples alongside soils.
Assessing data quality for geochemical surveys based on the provided QA/QC metrics.
Strengths
Includes independent laboratory cross-validation for six trace metals, providing quality assurance.
Sample preparation is documented, including drying, disaggregation, and sieving to a 63 µm fraction.
Released under an open CC-BY-4.0 license.
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
The dataset is very small (32.4 KB), indicating a limited scope.
