Roberto Campos Leoni analyzed a dataset of 2,240 hourly average air quality measurements collected from a monitoring station in the Gávea district of Rio de Janeiro between July and October 2011. The study applied descriptive and multivariate statistical approaches, including principal component analysis and Euclidean clustering with Ward criteria. Results indicated strong correlations between primary pollutants like nitrogen monoxide and carbon monoxide, suggesting a common vehicular origin.
