Description
ORNL DAAC's Spatial Data Access Tool (SDAT) provides a suite of Web-based applications for visualizing and downloading spatial data. The tool incorporates Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standard Web services, including Web Coverage Service (WCS), Web Map Service (WMS), and Web Feature Service (WFS). It offers data types covering agriculture, atmosphere, biosphere, climate indicators, human dimensions, land surface, oceans, and terrestrial hydrosphere.
Use Cases
Visualizing climate indicator trends based on the described temporal and spatial data layers.
Downloading land surface or biosphere data for environmental modeling based on the available data types.
Integrating atmospheric or oceanographic data into research workflows using the described OGC web services.
Analyzing human dimensions or agricultural data within user-selected spatial extents and projections.
Strengths
Data is accessible via multiple OGC standard web services (WCS, WMS, WFS), promoting interoperability.
Covers multiple Earth science domains including agriculture, atmosphere, biosphere, climate indicators, human dimensions, land surface, oceans, and terrestrial hydrosphere.
Limitations
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download.
Row count and dataset size are unknown, which may limit suitability assessment.
Last update date is unknown; freshness unverified.
