Description
National Base Map - without labels provides seamless topographic colour mapping for Australia, its outer islands, external territories, and the Australian Antarctic Territory. The service integrates data from Geoscience Australia, Australian Antarctic Division, OpenStreetMap, and other sources, with topographic information checked in 2008 and supplemented in 2009. The map portrays cultural, hydrography, marine, transport, vegetation, and relief themes.
Use Cases

Perform spatial analysis based on the integrated hydrography, vegetation, and transport themes.
Use as a base layer for environmental monitoring based on the land use and relief data.
Strengths
Covers the whole of Australia, its outer islands, external territories, and the Australian Antarctic Territory.
Integrates data from multiple authoritative sources including Geoscience Australia and OpenStreetMap.
Includes specific high-resolution mapping datasets for Christmas Island (1:30,000 scale) and Cocos (Keeling) Islands (1:25,000 scale).
Limitations
