72 infaunal grab samples and granulometry samples were collected in 2016 to assess the condition of maerl and coarse sediment habitats. NatureScot conducted quantitative drop-down video surveys and particle size analysis following the site's designation in 2013. Sampling locations were randomly selected within nine depth stratified boxes on the eastern side of the Sound of Barra.
Use Cases
- Analyze habitat condition based on infaunal grab samples mentioned in the description
- Model sediment particle size distribution based on granulometry samples
- Assess marine habitat health based on quantitative drop-down video survey data
Strengths
- 72 infaunal grab samples provide a quantitative baseline
- Sampling was conducted using a structured depth-stratified random design
Limitations
- Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
- Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
