Description
Presence and count data for nematode worms collected from four subtidal habitats in the North West Irish Sea, Celtic Deep, Bristol Channel, and Carmarthen Bay in July 2004 and July 2005. The dataset also includes total harpacticoid copepod counts per sample, sediment granulometry, and trace metal concentrations for some stations. Data was aggregated by the Government Digital Service from the eu_open_data platform.
Use Cases
Modeling nematode community distribution based on sediment granulometry data mentioned in the description
Analyzing correlations between trace metal concentrations and invertebrate counts for some stations
Comparing benthic fauna assemblages across the four distinct subtidal habitats sampled
Studying the co-occurrence of nematodes and harpacticoid copepods from the count data provided
Strengths
Data covers two sampling years (2004 and 2005), allowing for temporal comparison
Includes multiple data types: species counts, sediment properties, and environmental chemistry for some stations
Samples were collected from four distinct geographic regions in the Irish and Celtic Seas
Limitations
Row count is unknown, which may limit suitability assessment
Column-level documentation is absent; field semantics must be inferred after download
