Description
A compilation of published diameters, optical albedos, near-infrared albedos, and beaming parameters for minor planets detected by the NEOWISE mission. The data covers near-Earth asteroids, Main Belt asteroids, Hildas, Jupiter Trojans, Centaurs, and Jovian and Saturnian irregular satellites. This dataset was produced by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and was last updated in March 2026.
Use Cases
Modeling asteroid thermal properties based on published beaming parameters.
Analyzing the size distribution of different asteroid populations based on published diameters.
Comparing surface reflectivity across asteroid classes based on optical and near-infrared albedos.
Studying the physical characteristics of irregular satellites of Jupiter and Saturn.
Strengths
Data covers multiple distinct populations: near-Earth asteroids, Main Belt asteroids, Hildas, Jupiter Trojans, Centaurs, and irregular satellites.
Methodology for physical property determination is described in referenced articles.
Last updated in March 2026, suggesting recent maintenance.
Limitations
Row count, file formats, and column-level documentation are unknown, which limits suitability assessment.
Description metadata is limited; actual data quality requires manual inspection after download.
