The NESP Marine Biodiversity Hub project "Shark action plan" produced two major publications to strengthen shark, ray, and chimaera conservation in Australia. The 2018 policy report reviewed extinction risk and threats, and the 2021 Action Plan assessed the national extinction risk of 328 Australian species using IUCN criteria. These outputs provide a national benchmark for tracking species status changes and support threatened species listing and fisheries management.
