A 2016-2017 study by CSIRO for the Australian Ocean Data Network addresses impacts of mine-derived pollution on Torres Strait marine resources. Using state-of-the-art procedures, it determined trace metal concentrations in marine waters and sediments across the region to identify contamination hotspots. The generated water quality data aims to support informed management decisions on trans-boundary mining pollution.
