Description
Digital boundaries of Agglomerations were created for Round 4 strategic noise mapping to meet the requirements of the Environmental Noise (Scotland) Regulations 2006, as amended in 2018. The dataset, commissioned by Scottish Ministers, supports the development of noise action plans to preserve quiet areas and good noise quality. It is based on National Records of Scotland Settlements data and OS Open Greenspaces, last updated on 2026-06-19.

Define urban agglomerations for noise action planning based on population density (>500 people per km²) and size (>100,000 people) criteria.
Identify public parks and quiet areas for protection based on the inclusion of intersecting or adjacent OS Open Greenspaces.
